iPhone app scans for skin cancer

A new app hits the mobile market that allows users to scan their skin and check if their moles are cancerous.

“Using specific mathematical algorithms, the tool calculates the mole’s shape and surrounding skin by building a structural map to reveal tissue growth patterns that help to identify abnormal developments. It also takes into account the user’s age and gender. It returns with a green, yellow or red result – showing whether the lesion is a low, medium or high risk of being cancerous.”

Its a nice way to remind people to look after their skin and keep check-ups top of mind.
